Meet Our Team

Our firm was established at Murwillumbah, in the heart of the Tweed Valley, by the late Frederick Knight Budd in 1927. Fred welcomed his son Derek Budd into the practice in 1956 upon Derek's admission as a solicitor and Derek continued the practice following Fred's death in 1972. In the 1960's the firm welcomed Lawrence Piper (Lawrie) into the practice and he subsequently became a partner with Derek. In the 1980's, Lawrie's son Martin Piper joined the practice as a solicitor, later becoming a partner with Derek and remaining at the firm until his retirement in 2013.

William Campbell joined the practice in the mid 1990's, first as an articled clerk under the mentorship of Derek Budd, and subsequently as an employed solicitor before becoming a partner in the practice with Derek in 2013. Derek continued to practice law as the senior partner at Budd & Piper until his death in April 2014, concluding 58 years of continuous legal practice. Since then, William Campbell has been the sole owner and legal practitioner at Budd & Piper Solicitors.

In the 1970's the firm established an office at Tweed Heads and our sole office today is located at 16 Beryl St Tweed Heads. During our long history, our firm has assisted several generations of individuals and families, providing legal services in the Tweed Valley and Gold Coast. We continue to carry on that same mission, helping people with their legal needs through our efficient and experienced team, who appear below.
